Château de Chenonceau

Built on the Cher River, where the unique beauty of the Renaissance architecture reflects into the waters, the Castle of Chenonceau is the crown of the Val de Loire.

 

 

This enchanting castle is surrounded by a park and by French gardens which ideally complete the impression of delicate grace given by the monument.

Château de Cheverny

This is probably the best known castle in the Val de Loire by comics lovers!

 

 

Cheverny, private property belonging to the same family since more than six centuries, has indeed been an inspiration for Hergé, the writer of Tintin, he has used the design of this castle to draw the imaginary castle of Moulinsart.

 

 

 

The owners of the place invite you to discover a fantastic authentic, but living heritage, from the botanical park to the magnificent interior of the castle, the kennels, the exhibition on Tintin, the gardens and the forest, at 35 kilometres from our campsite.

Château du Clos Lucé

The castle of the Clos Lucé, at 19 kilometres from our campsite, invites to step in the footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci.

 

 

Visit the home of this Grand Master, who has lived the last three years of his life in Amboise and discover his room, his study, and his furnished kitchen, decorated in Renaissance style. Admire also the room with scale models, where nearly 40 fabulous machines have been realised according to the drawings of Leonardo da Vinci.

 

 

Finally, the visit continues in the Leonardo da Vinci Park, where sounds, videos and giant machines ((tank, flying machine, Leonardian boat, etc.) permit to understand these inventions in a fun and interactive way.

The castle of Amboise, major place of the History of France, lies at only 19 kilometres from our campsite.

 

 

Discover this royal residence, remarkable for more than one reason and notably for its exceptional collection of Gothic and Renaissance furniture, witness of the artistic refinement of the first French Renaissance.

 

 

After the visit of the royal apartments and the impressive towers, the tour continues with the magnificent panoramic gardens dominating the Loire.

Château de Chaumont sur Loire

This is one of the most enchanting castles of the Val de Loire. Built on a peak, perched 40 metres above the royal river, the property of Chaumont sur Loire welcomes you in its castle and its park, at only 7 kilometres from the campsite!

 

 

Once the property of Catherine de Médicis, Diane de Poitiers and the Princess of Broglie, this castle has a cosy, warm interior and is richly furnished. Its park welcomes since 1992 the International Garden Festival. Since, almost 500 temporary gardens have been created. The festival, at the same time innovating and incubator of talent, revitalises the art of gardens by showing constantly new flowers, new materials and new approaches.

Aquarium of the Val de Loire

The aquarium of the Val de Loire, in Lussault, at 26 kilometres from the campsite, counts as one of the largest in Europe.

Some 10 000 fishes swim around in the 4 million litres of water of the aquarium. Most of the species come from European lakes, streams and rivers, but it is also possible to see deep sea water species from the tropical regions or the coral reefs  For those who stay in the region, a visit is unavoidable!

Classified among the 15 most beautiful animal parks in the world by Forbes Traveler, the ZooParc de Beauval lies at 40 kilometres from the campsite.

 

 

Over 27 hectares, there are around 4 600 animals living here, making it the greatest wealth and variety of fauna in France! The ZooParc de Beauval proposes a complete day of discovery with exceptional and mythical animals: the couple of pandas, the koalas and their babies, the lions and the white tigers, the sea cows, the okapis…

Biscuit factory of Chambord

Since more than 30 years one of the most famous biscuit factories of the region lies in Maslives, at two steps from the castle of Chambord and 42 kilometres from our campsite: the biscuit factory of Chambord.

 

 

It respects the ancient biscuit tradition and uses high quality raw materials. Its core product, the “Palet Solognot”, comes from a traditional recipe, a light crispy butter biscuit, filled with dried raisins soaked in rum…

At the farm of la Cabinette, at not even 5 kilometres from the campsite, you can discover their local products, like the famous goat cheese with a registered designation of origin (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlé) the Sainte Maure de Touraine.

Mushroom Cave of the Roches

In the Cave of the Roches you can expect a genuine trip into the centre of the earth, dug in the soil of the municipality of Bourré, at 25 kilometres from our campsite.

 

 

This is the only and unique cave in the world where mushrooms are cultivated entirely, at 50 metres under the ground. The agricultural company is spread over almost 120 kilometres of galleries, divided over seven basements. This ancestral cultivation at a constant temperature of 13°C permits to obtain mushrooms with an incomparable flavour and taste.
